TypePad Bloggin Service
TypePad is a blogging site. You can set up an account and create your own blog on TypePad. With it, you will get your own blog with full administrator options. You can choose from the different themes that they have available and setup your blog the way you want it. You have complete control over your blog at TypePad.
Also with it, you can upload your own video and music to your blog. You also control all of your outgoing links on your blog. They also offer a service that will fight against spam. This is a plus because blog sites seem to be the target of spam
TypePad is not free to use. However, you can try it for free for 14-days to see if you like it before paying for it. It is a fully hosted system that you pay for, much like Squarespace. However, it’s slightly more expensive (starting from $8.95/month compared to the $8/month for Squarespace, or whatever you pay for hosting with WordPress) and is lacking in features, compared to Squarespace and WordPress.
TypePad v/s WordPress
The primary advantage TypePad offers over WordPress is that it is easy to establish a blog to which you can map over your domain and own your content. It’s practically a matter of pushing a few buttons. Typepad permits its members to link their publication to the original and unique URL which is owned by the respective person. This facilitates in migrating from one publication platform to another. But the one major downside is you are not able to backup all of your content. You have to find alternative ways to get around this. WordPress, in other hand offers great customization unlike Typepad which inherently limits your ability to customize and adapt.
WordPress is also safer, you can easily backup all of your content. You can do it with your hosting company or you can install a plugin that will automatically backup your content for you. Another advantage to WordPress is the ability to choose from themes that provide the capability to design your blog to look exactly like a typical website, while also giving you the freedom to easily make updates. WordPress is where the cool kids hang out. WordPress is much like Apple – it’s the choice of aficionados that always want to be on the cutting edge.
